Violence In Transgender Communities: Keeping Ourselves Safe

Join presenting organizations TransOhio, Columbus Publich Health and Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Organization and community partners: Stonewall Columbus, The Frederick Center, Ohio State University and TWOCC-Ohio for a weekend focused on ending violence against the transgender and gender non-conforming communities. 

Knowing Your Rights
This workshop will provide attendees with information for knowing one’s rights when engaging with law enforcement. Discussion with also include information on how to advocate for oneself in regards to law enforcement and self-advocacy if legal rights have been violated.

Self-Defense Classes (Safety Breaks)
Safety breaks will be provided throughout the day and provide attendees with basic techniques and knowledge of self protection and using their voice. Additional discussion will be centered on self-awareness.

First Aid
This workshop will provide attendees with basic first-aid skills.

Hooking Up & Hanging Out
This workshop will provide attendees information about sexual health, accessing HIV care, body positivity and sex work safety.
